Jan 22, 2011

A few of us met up at the Egyptian Theater on Saturday morning to sketch and photograph the historic building. I loved all the eye candy and had a tough time deciding what to draw first. I finally settled in up on the balcony and sketched one side of the stage area. I was feeling a bit rusty since i haven't sketched in what seems like months.

After a tour of the basement and backstage most of the other had to go about their lives, Mike and I hung out for a bit longer and were rewarded with a tour of the projector room.

I stayed a bit longer than everyone else and sketched the scarab beetle above the stage. Unfortunately I wasn't able to complete the coloring process before I sent my sketchbook away for a few months...I look forward to getting it back and finishing my pages.

"unofficial" SketchCrawl

What better way to enjoy the official "talk like a pirate day" than to attend an "unofficial" SketchCrawl outing. We had 8 artists (plus one additional that came to the location but didn't find the group) this time! Wow!! That was the largest attended crawl yet. I loved it! We started in Kathrin Albertsons Park again, then headed over to Hyde Park Street Fair. It was perfect weather and I had a grand time seeing everyone's various sketching styles. I really should have added some humor to the sketch... like the duck with an eye patch as Barry suggested. ;) next time for sure!

July 31 ~ SketchCrawl

It has been a busy summer for everyone...lot of full schedules... Soooo, I went out solo this morning. I was so glad I did too! Drew in a spot that I have never drawn before. Cathryn Alberstons Park is full of inspiration. But what really caught my artist eye were the lilies in bloom on the ponds...I spent the entire 2 hours in one spot, soaking in the sights... watched how the light changed the colors of the lily pads, and how quickly the flowers opened up to the sun. To top it all off, I came face to face with a young doe deer. She wasn't frightened of me and continued to graze about 15 feet from me.

May 15th ~ Boise SketchCrawl

It has taken awhile for me to scan and upload the last SketchCrawl... no other excuses other than June was a very full month. :) We met at the Boise Train Depot, then went to Roosters on Vista for lunch. My "sketching" continued into the evening when I attended a good friend's college graduation party.

I'm really looking forward to July 31st for the 3rd SketchCrawl of 2010. We plan on meeting at Kathrine Alberstons park.

leftovers

two left over drawings from the same day, but after the sketchcrawl event in Feb ... so technically I guess it would still count as part of the sketchcrawl.
